The Bards regrouped around their original English poet and minstrel theme and decided they would literally put poetry to music. This new direction resulted in their second single, "The Owl & The Pussy-Cat", based on a poem by Edward Lear. St. Francis de Sales is the Patron Saint of Writers and Journalists. He lived from in France. He became a priest at the age of 26 and began writing leaflets (which he copied by hand) on the teachings of the church. Mercedes Lackey writes a lot about bards. She has many series dedicated to them. And they are all excellently written. There's bards often featured in her Valdemar world (notably Vanyel is a Mage and quite the accomplished musician).
